Whether you have owned your home for years, are considering the purchase of a new home or enhancing your current property with trees, there are some guidelines to follow.  Try to purchase resistant varieties, use proper spacing for when they mature, proper planting depths and always give them a good start.
Homeowners with existing trees need to keep a careful eye for any deviation from the tree’s normal conditions.

The old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” holds true to your trees and shrubs.  Proper fertilization practices will ensure a healthier, happier tree!

There are several types of tree problems that can occur.

1)Insects:  Insects attack trees in both weak and healthy conditions.  Leaf miners, leaf hoppers, and caterpillars attack trees regardless of health conditions.  Most bores attack trees in a weakened condition (birch bore, etc).  Bores need to be treated or the tree will eventually die.
2)Fungi:  Fungus is the major cause of infectious disease in trees.   Common diseases of trees caused by fungi include leafspots, cankers, root rots, wilts, scabs, rust and more.  Many of these diseases can be reduced by keeping soil well drained, allowing tree to receive lots of sunlight and reducing wounds.
3)Viruses:  Plant viruses usually cause chlorophyll inhibition (loss of green leaf color) resulting in mosaics ring spot symptoms.  Disease control of viruses is seldom warranted outside the nursery.

Many of the above insects and disease pathogens can be effectively controlled with nutritional programs and enclosed micro injection systems.  Some of the problems in our area include Oak Wilt, Verticillium Wilt (maples) Cytospore Canker, Eastern Spruce Gall, Rhizospera Needle Cast (spruces & firs) and soon to be Emerald Ash Borer.

Trees are one of our area’s natural beauties.  Deciding when and how to treat can be difficult to the average homeowner.  However, there are arborists, state foresters, soil conservation districts and licensed applicators in Forestry and Ornamentals to advise you with your tree needs.  Beck's Ornamental can assist you with all your needs.

Introducing new technology to Professional Tree Care
We are now offering the latest technology breakthrough in the treatment
of insect and disease problems in trees.  Arborjet injection system
is environmentally friendly, is highly effective (a single treatment often
lasts several years), and is the safest option for keeping your property
free of chemical residues.

Unlike the traditional approaches of spraying
and soil application, the Arborjet system keeps the treatment inside the
tree, eliminating chemical exposure of the air, soil or groundwater. It is
healthy for your trees and healthy for you, your family and your pets.

A Safer, More Effective and Environmentally
Friendly Health Care Method for Your Trees NEW SERVICE!
WHAT IS IT AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
The actual process is very similar to getting a shot from a doctor or a
hospital intravenous. Using either a “Tree I.V.” or a syringe-like injector
called a “QUIK-jet”, small amounts of concentrated treatment formula
are injected into the “veins” of the tree. Once inside the tree, the tree’s
natural processes distribute and diffuse the medicament throughout
the tissues where insects and diseases typically try to invade or feed,
stopping the destructive pest before it can do any damage. e injection
is performed through a special insert called an Arborplug which
facilitates the injection, prevents leakage or infection, and speeds the
development of new woody tissue to “heal” over the site.

Who we service:
Home Owners: Arborjet's methods have reduced home owners concerns regarding chemicals being sprayed or released into the soil.  Arborjet is a safer method of treatment verse soil application and foliar spraying.

Municipalities: Invasive pests have destroyed many trees in our communities.  Municipalities have found that the loosing trees has had many hidden costs and has been very expensive. More and more municipalities are investing in saving trees and turning to the Arborjet injection method.

Resorts:
Injection method has become the #1 choice for resort owners. Golf course, hotel, ski, and other resorts can protect their valuable landscape without harmful off target pest control applications.  Applications can be applied during normal business operations.
